About Us
We are a small family business, Norma has the business head and I, Gerry, well, I am an artist with 25 years experience of producing art on a small scale with five years commercial art experience gained by supplying quality art from our studio in central Scotland.
We decided it was time to use our knowledge of good design and source quality products for retail through our new High Street store. After a couple of year’s research and the wait for a suitable location, Green & Pink opened at The Centre Livingston. We are situated equidistantly between Edinburgh and Glasgow just of the M8 Motorway.
We all have growing concern for the environment and the impact we are all having on our planet. With this in mind, we decided to look at how we could help reduce some of that impact and concluded that the best place to start is at home. Majority of our goods are sourced, designed, manufactured and supplied from within the British Isles, we are not only helping to support British industries, and we are also helping to reduce our own personal carbon footprint. Some of our suppliers are literally walking distance from our store, you can’t get anymore environmentally friendly than that...
Regrettably, after the years of hardship British Industry has endured, not everything we want to stock is available in the UK so we have made some exceptions. Even so we like to establish the true source of our products and actively seek out recycled, organic, fair trade and ethically manufactured products wherever possible.
Our goal is to increase the range of British goods that we stock and to continue to source products which include organic materials, show innovation in recycling or just offer the best of British design. By doing all this, we hope to increase awareness of British design and show that Great Britain still has a wealth of talented designers and manufacturers.
One of the most frequent questions asked at our shop is "how did you come up with the name Green & Pink?" The Green & Pink name does not have any mystery or hidden meaning behind it, we liked the colours and had included them as our base colours for our packaging and store decoration since the colours stood out so well we decided to add a twist to the design and felt the name was perfect for us, although we have noticed that it seems to be children that notice the little twist in our name....
